the citroen ds3 is a new 2011 car with an awsome shape. the lights are the main feature in my opition as they are almost like sky lights- tiny little lights that fit in the frame of the fog lights. at night this is most effective and looks amazing! the actual shape of the car is really nice, not too original though as i see a similarity to the mini cooper.

inspiring jewellery

when i design jewellery i tend to be very geometrical as i like the architectural look or style but i like to add a soft edge or feel to it and i think this necklace shows it best! it has irregular triangle shapes( i love the fact that they not the usual triangle) yet the edges are smoothed out. i love the balance of combining the two.



this brooch i think is very sweet and playful. it almost tells a little story. the main thing i like about it is the frame- it reminds me of memories and pictures and also i like the layering it gives a sence of volume and 3D.

simple but beautiful designs

i love this lamp/light. i love how it look 'raw' the wood is not varnished yet it looks so complete. its very simple in form and serves its purpose. its very architectural and reminds me of a crane or of a construction site.



i find this table very unusual as the design is not on the main table top but underneath the table. its almost like its a table thats not meant to have a tablecloth put on it when its in use. the zig-zag design can also be used to place goods on which can come in handy. i also like the rough unvarnished look.

infecting the city

On Tues 22nd Feb our class went to cape town station to have a look at displays from 'infecting the city' and one thing that really stood out to me was the 5 posters of popular tourists sites in cape town. Next to these posters was a note saying that its really sad that some locals have not even been to some of the sites that are so close to them. I feel that this is so true and really upsetting to think that locals cant be bothered to be a 'tourist' in their own city and get to explore their city's beauty!

something i noticed about the display and design of these posers is that their was 5 posers- maybe because of big 5? or maybe it was just a random number of posers. Also there were stars on floors under the posers like in hollywood maybe its to explain how glamourous our city is?

what is a good design?

To me a good design is something that is both practical and original. You may have a great design that looks amazing but if its not comfortable or useful than it has no use. For example the old mercedes A class was designed where the drivers arm rest comes over the handbreak which is not a good design as the handbreak is not easily accessable and this design could be quite dangerous.

Its difficult to say what is a good design n what is not as design mainly works on personal taste therefore the easiest way to describe it would be to say something thats practical and original
